Wisdom Tooth Removal in Gurgaon

When removal makes sense
- Repeated swelling and infection of the gum flap over a half-erupted tooth
- Decay in the wisdom tooth, or in the molar next to it, that cannot be reached to clean
- A tooth growing into its neighbour
- Pain that keeps returning
A wisdom tooth that is healthy and causing no harm can often be left alone and watched. If somebody tells you all four must go without showing you why on an X-ray, ask for the reason.
Simple or impacted: what the X-ray decides
A fully erupted wisdom tooth usually comes out much like any other tooth. An impacted one is trapped under gum or bone, so the gum is opened and the tooth may be sectioned into smaller pieces. Upper and lower teeth also differ, and lower ones can lie close to a nerve. The X-ray shows the root shape and position, which tells the doctor how involved the procedure will be.
On the day
Both kinds are done under local anaesthetic, so you feel pushing rather than pain. Conscious sedation is available if you need it, and it is worth asking about if you have been putting this off.
Recovery, roughly day by day
- First day. Bite on the gauze as told, rest, use cold packs, and eat soft cool food. No spitting, no straws and no smoking, because the blood clot has to stay in place.
- Days two and three. Swelling usually peaks, and may make it harder to open your mouth. Gentle salt-water rinses begin when the clinic says so.
- The first week. Things steadily improve. Pain that gets worse after a few days may mean a dry socket, so call the clinic.
You leave with written aftercare instructions, and a follow-up is arranged.
If it is a different tooth
The clinic also carries out routine and surgical extractions of other teeth, including ones that are loose, broken or badly decayed, and extractions before braces. Saving a tooth is usually the better path, so an extraction is advised only when it truly cannot be kept.
Choosing who does it
Wherever you go in the city, ask who will do the extraction, whether your X-ray will be explained, and who you can call that night. To speak to us, ring +91 93157 02965 or send a WhatsApp message.

Frequently asked questions
Do all wisdom teeth have to be removed?
No. A tooth that is healthy, in a good position and easy to clean can stay. The decision depends on your examination and X-ray.
How long should I take off work?
Many people plan for a quiet day or two after a simple removal and a few more after a surgical one. Ask the doctor once she has seen your X-ray.
What can I eat afterwards?
Soft, cool food at first, such as curd, khichdi that has cooled or mashed potato. Avoid hot, spicy or crunchy food until the site settles.
Can a swollen wisdom tooth be removed straight away?
Sometimes the infection has to be calmed first. The doctor will decide after seeing how much swelling there is.
